Foam Clearance Guide

For the foam to cut correctly, we require a minimum clearance around each item on the board. Clearance is the gap that separates items from each other and from the edge of the board.

Approximate clearance should be:

• 10mm from the outside edge of the board
• 10mm between each item on the board

These measurements will vary slightly depending on the board size and number of items.

Incorrect Clearance

The red indicates that the clearance between each item is too small, and tools are sitting too close to edge of the board. If gaps between tools are too narrow, the foam will break during production. The number of items in this design will need to be reduced to achieve the correct clearance.

Correct Clearance

The green is highlighting that each tool has the correct clearance from other items and from the edge of the board. This means the foam will stay rigid and undamaged during production.
