Photography and Lighting Options to Suite Your Workflow
The first step in creating precision-cut foam shadow boards is capturing accurate images of each individual tool or piece of equipment. These images form the foundation of the design process, allowing OSAAP Australia to design foam layouts that fit perfectly, support accountability, and deliver long-term durability.
If you already have existing CAD files for your equipment, these can be supplied directly, allowing you to bypass the imaging stage entirely and move straight into design.
For all other projects, OSAAP offers flexible imaging options to suit your tools, team, and workflow:
- Use the BlueMobile AUS App to photograph individual tools on-site while they remain in service.
- For oversize or multiple tools, use our light panels and mobile app, which allow large or high-volume equipment to be captured accurately and efficiently.
- Send your tools to OSAAP, and our team will professionally scan and prepare them for design on your behalf.
No matter which option you choose, every method feeds seamlessly into our design and manufacturing workflow, ensuring a smooth path from image capture to finished foam solution.
Option 1 - BlueMobile AUS App: Simple On-Site Imaging
For most projects, the BlueMobile AUS App is the easiest and fastest way to capture equipment. Using the app, you can photograph each tool on a blank sheet of white A4 paper, creating an accurate reference for scale and shape.
This allows tools to stay on site and remain in service while designs are underway. Images and project details are uploaded directly into OSAAP’s Blue Suite software, where they flow seamlessly into the design and manufacturing process.
The app is also used to review designs, request changes, approve layouts, and track progress in real time. Everything captured through the app connects directly to our design and production systems, removing manual handling, emails, or duplicated information.
Option 2 - Light Panel Technology for Larger or High-Volume Projects
For equipment that is too large to fit on A4 paper, or for projects with multiple items that need to be captured efficiently, the BlueMobile AUS App may not be the most practical way to capture images.
In these cases, OSAAP Australia can provide light panels and a camera, sent directly to your site, to make the imaging process simple and accurate.
You simply place your tools or equipment on the illuminated panel and take photographs using the supplied camera. There’s no need to worry about technical details — we provide clear guidance to ensure every item is captured correctly. If the size of the object exceeds the size of the light panel, we can still use our imaging software to capture its dimensions.
Once the imaging is complete, the camera and light panel are returned to OSAAP. Our team then uploads the images into our design software. You’ll have the opportunity to review and approve layouts digitally before production starts.
After approval, your custom foam shadow boards are manufactured to specification and shipped directly to your facility, ready for installation. This approach ensures even large or complex tool sets are captured with precision and incorporated seamlessly into your final foam solution.
Option 3 - Send Your Tools to OSAAP Australia for Imaging
If you prefer, you can send your tools and equipment to OSAAP and let our team handle the imaging process. Upon receiving your tools, we photograph each item using professional imaging setups to ensure every detail is captured accurately.
Once imaging is complete, your tools are returned to you, and the images are uploaded into Blue Suite to begin the design process. You can then review and approve the layouts digitally before production begins.
3D Scanning for Irregular Tools
For irregularly shaped items that are sent to us, OSAAP offers advanced 3D scanning capabilities.
3D scanning accurately captures objects that are difficult to photograph, making it ideal for documenting complex designs, confined spaces, and case interiors.
