Medical Tool & Equipment Storage Solutions

Secure, Sterile, and Organised Equipment for Healthcare Teams

In healthcare environments, the safe storage, transport, and organisation of medical equipment is vital for patient safety, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. Medical devices, surgical instruments, implants, and first aid kits must be handled with care to maintain sterility, prevent damage, and ensure they are immediately ready for use.

OSAAP Australia partners with hospitals, surgical centres, medical device manufacturers, paramedic teams, and mobile hospitals to provide custom-designed solutions.

Our offerings include precision-cut custom foam shadow boards and backer boards, laser etching, and robust Pelican storage cases, all engineered to safeguard medical assets while simplifying organisation and accountability.

OSAAP Australia’s manufacturing processes are certified under ISO 9001 Quality Management System standards, ensuring consistent production quality and patient safety.

Instrument Management Challenges in Medical Environments

Fragile and Expensive Equipment
Medical devices and instruments are highly sensitive. Breakages can lead to costly replacements, operational delays, or, in critical situations, patient risk.

Maintaining Sterility
Equipment must remain sterile during transport. Packaging that fails to protect instruments can expose them to air, water, or contaminants, breaching hygiene standards.

FOD Control
Foreign Object Debris (FOD), including swabs, screws, fibers, or instrument fragments, can compromise sterile environments, increase infection risk, and delay procedures. Efficient FOD control reduces these risks and improves workflow efficiency.

Inventory and Accountability
Manual checking of instruments is time-consuming. Without clearly organised systems, missing items may only be discovered too late, causing compliance and safety issues.

How OSAAP Australia Supports Medical Teams

OSAAP Australia provides custom medical tools and equipment storage solutions designed to improve organisation, accountability, and protection in healthcare environments.

Custom Foam Shadow Boards for Organised, Ready-to-Use Equipment

OSAAP Australia’s custom foam shadow boards can be placed within storage cases to provide a secure, designated place for every instrument, vial, implant, or device, keeping medical equipment organised and easy to access.

By clearly defining where each item belongs, staff can quickly locate tools, streamline inventory checks, and reduce handling errors, while also immediately spotting any missing equipment to prevent FOD risks.

Our foam inserts are crafted from high-performance medical-grade foam supplied by Zotefoams, chosen for its durability, chemical resistance, and closed-cell structure. The foam is latex-free, non-toxic, hypoallergenic, and able to withstand water, cleaning products, and hypochlorite used in standard sterilisation protocols, supporting hygiene and infection control.

In addition to functionality, our custom foam inserts deliver a professional presentation, which is particularly important when medical equipment or surgical kits are being transported to hospitals, surgical centres, or customers.

Pelican Cases for Safe Transport

As Platinum Pelican Dealers, we supply and configure waterproof, wheeled Pelican cases for transporting medical instruments and devices.

Combined with our custom foam shadow boards, these cases prevent movement, reduce breakages, and ensure equipment arrives in perfect condition. They are designed to comply with hospital, logistics, and defence handling standards, including mobile hospital operations.

Pelican transport cases are IP67 rated, protecting equipment from dust and water immersion, and comply with multiple industry standards, including:

  • ATA Spec 300 - Airline shipping packaging guidelines
  • STANAG 4280 - NATO packaging and storage standards
  • MIL-STD-810 - Military standard for extreme environments
  • DEF STAN 81-4 - Defence standard packaging
  • DEF(AUST) 1000 - ADF standard packaging

Laser Tool Etching for Traceability

Precision laser etching labels the location of each instrument in the foam, supporting fast assembly, re-stocking, and auditing. Serialisation and branding options are available to meet regulatory and organisational requirements.

Digital Asset Management

OSAAP’s imaging technology and Blue Suite software sets us apart in the medical sector. Using our BlueMobile AUS app, medical teams can photograph and upload instruments directly on site, eliminating the need to ship equipment offsite

These images are then used by the OSAAP design team to create precise foam board layouts, ensuring every tool has a clearly defined location. For larger or high-volume tool sets, we can provide light panels and towers that allow multiple items to be captured at once, improving speed and consistency.

All designs, approvals, laser etching details, and production progress are managed through Blue Manager within Blue Suite, providing full visibility and fast turnaround with minimal disruption.

Secure Handling of Sensitive Equipment

OSAAP can accommodate sensitive or confidential instruments. Clients may provide non-detailed 3D files for custom layouts, bypassing imaging to maintain security while still creating precise, deployable foam inserts.

Microsurgical Specialties Case Study

Transport Cases for Medical Devices and Surgical Instruments

The Challenge

Microsurgical Specialties needed a more reliable way to transport delicate surgical instruments. Their transport cases lacked internal protection, waterproofing, and mobility features like handles or wheels. Tools often shifted during transit, risking damage, and manual inventory checks were slow, labour-intensive, and prone to errors.

The Solution

OSAAP provided a complete, custom transport and storage solution. Each instrument was photographed and scanned using our BlueMobile AUS app and light panels. The new custom foam shadow boards were designed by the OSAAP team using our Blue Shadow software. Precision laser-etching marked each slot for easy identification, and the inserts were fitted into wheeled, waterproof Pelican Cases. Every tool now has a dedicated, secure location, making the cases easy to handle and transport.

The Results

The new system transformed transport and inventory management for Microsurgical Specialties. Cases are now lightweight and mobile, protecting equipment from damage and reducing breakages. Inventory checks have become fast and simple, saving time and improving accuracy. The solution complied with SmartWays Logistics and hospital handling requirements, delivering safer, more efficient, and more reliable equipment transport.
